We made it to Alaska

At the Alaska Zoo

Well I was really bumming at the end of April thinking about how I had missed out on my trip to Alaska for work. I wasn't elected to go but because of the swine flu I got to go instead. I love the swine flu. Dad came to see us for a couple days and then we got to see grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousin, friends and their kids. Thank you everyone for your hospitality and watching the kids while I had to work. It was awesome. The weather was great too. The only thing we didn't do was climb a mountain like Abby requested. We did go to the zoo and a couple playgrounds. Abby got to see her first moose. Dwyer fell from his booster seat to the ground. Poor guy. He started clapping the next day for the first time so it couldn't have done too much damage. He did have a sore nose. Dwyer was sure to smile for everyone. Abby was quick to show her strength and dominance but she loved playing with anyone who would run with her. On the way to the airport Abby asked about grandma. I said, "We are going home and grandma is going to stay here in Alaska." "Oh," she said, "I'm gonna miss her." She has been talking about it even since we got home. She says, "I miss grandma and grandpa, Auntie Marla, Tom, Jack and all those people. I miss those peoples."
Dwyer has started to move along furniture just a step at a time. He is also getting better at pulling himself up on to his knees. And if he doesn't get frusturated he can get down from a seating position. I don't know if he knows my name but when he wants me he says, "Mmmma mmm." I think it counts. He does have a little seperation anxiety. He doesn't like to be left in a room by himself.

I'm so glad you got to go, Sheryl. Life smiles on us every once in awhile, huh?
